Experience Adnams in Southwold
Brewery & Distillery Tours - Historic Pubs - Award-winning Hotels - Inspiring Cellar & Kitchen Store
Enjoy a taste of Adnams in Southwold. Its famous Suffolk beer has been brewed there for over 150 years and all around the town you will experience the influences of the brewery.
Hidden behind a Victorian façade is one of the most energy efficient breweries in Europe - it now also houses the new Copper House Distillery. For a chance to venture behind the scenes and find out how their beer and the Adnams handcrafted spirits are made, why not join in the regular tours. *For just £10 per person you can enjoy either a Brewery tour, which includes a beer and wine tasting, or a tour of the Distillery where you can sample the spirits range.
If you prefer shopping to beer making, then the Cellar & Kitchen store on Victoria Street, along with its Café and courtyard, has plenty to discover - over 400 wines, free tastings every day, a huge selection of kitchenware and of course Adnams beers and spirits. The relaxed Café serves a delicious range of seasonal, local food: look out for the special seating areas recycled from copper brewing vessels and old beach groynes.
Around the streets of Southwold there are five individual Adnams pubs including the award-winning Lord Nelson (famous for its fish and chips) and the Harbour Inn, where you can watch fishing boats unload their catch whilst enjoying the views of Walberswick across the river.
Should you wish to stay longer or enjoy a meal then The Swan and The Crown hotels, on the High Street, offer a great location and atmosphere with their award-winning food and emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. There's so much to do on your visit.

Adnams Royal Wedding Ale 4.1% ABV
Adnams has a history of brewing special beers to mark Royal Weddings, three generations of them, so they couldn't let this one pass without opening up the recipe book again. The new recipe for their latest Royal Wedding ale celebrates a new generation of Royals and it's classic but vibrant design supports this too.
The beer is amber gold in colour with a sweet floral aroma from the heather honey. On the palate, it has a slight floral sweetness balanced by the biscuity malt and crisp bitterness. The tradition of honey beers to celebrate weddings is said to have given them the term ‘honeymoon', whether there is any truth in this or not, we're not sure, it seemed like a good excuse to us! It's brewed with Pale ale malt, Premium Cara malt, Amber malt, Pilgrim and Sovereign hops and Heather Honey. This is a limited-edition, one-off brew.
