ADRENALINE ACTIVITIES IN SUFFOLK: 6 WAYS TO GET YOUR PULSE RACING

Suffolk can often be seen as a calm place with quiet country roads, small pretty villages, and a lovely seaside. However, it’s also a place for action junkies, and if you’re wanting some adrenaline activities to get the blood flowing and the heart pounding we’ve got six suggestions to give you the rush you crave.

ANGLIA KARTING

Anglia Karting in Ipswich offers high-octane entertainment for those with a need for speed. Strap yourself in to one of the 270cc racing karts and take a spin around the professionally designed indoor racing track, which has multiple tiers, tricky bends and exhilarating straights. With packages for individuals, groups of friends and little ones, who can practice their driving skills on the miniature circuit, Anglia Karting is a great way to experience all the thrills of motorsport, right here in Suffolk.

PLEASUREWOOD HILLS

East Anglia’s biggest theme park, located just north of Lowestoft, has a variety of white-knuckle rides that will test your courage to breaking point. Wipeout, the region’s biggest rollercoaster, will hurl you through loops and corners at 50mph, putting you through 5.2 vertical Gs, while the Jolly Roger takes you high into the sky before dropping you vertically at 60 mph. And for a different type of scare, why not take on Hob’s Pit? A combined ride and walk through, this horror encounter through an abandoned mine deep under Pleasurewood Hills will leave your heart pounding.

SUFFOLK SKI CENTRE

Have your own snow sports adventure without the travel or the cold at Suffolk Ski Centre in Ipswich. Descend the 180 metre slope on a toboggan, snowboard, rubber ring, or skis for a real rush, before catching one of the two ski lifts and doing the whole thing again! And as skis, toboggans, and boards all run faster in the wet (and even faster in the snow) it’s also one place that is actually improved by bad weather!

BEACON RALLY KARTS

If you’ve ever travelled north from Ipswich on the train you’ll probably have seen the race tracks at Beacon Rally Karts from your window. The three circuits near Woodbridge provide plenty of challenges for the off-road karts, which come in four different sizes so that everyone from six upwards can experience the high speed fun.

UK PARACHUTING

The sky’s the limit with this one. Hurl yourself out of a plane at 13,000 feet and plummet at 120mph towards the unforgiving ground for nearly a minute before opening your chute and gliding down to the landing pad. Beccles airfield, close to Lowestoft in the north east of the county, is the venue for this ultimate adrenaline high.

GO APE

It’s not just speed that gets the pulse racing. How about moving through Thetford Forest, 35 feet above the leafy floor, suspended only by some thin wires and narrow bits of wood? Stepping out across open air from platform to platform takes some courage and certainly gets the heart pounding. And at the end of the Go Ape course you get to feel the wind tearing at your face as you descend an enormous zip line back to terra firma.
