MOYSE'S HALL MUSEUM, BURY ST EDMUNDS

Now this really is a historical museum. Stood in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, just the building itself is over a thousand years old and houses an eclectic collection of artefacts and exhibits which range from clocks to paintings to military items to prison paraphernalia. Workshops, lectures, and activity days are held regularly allowing you to immerse yourself in history.

SEA PICTURES GALLERY, CLARE

In the smallest town in Suffolk you will find the Sea Pictures Gallery, run by Sarah and Alaric Pugh. Their Georgian building houses a collection of high quality maritime related art by UK artists, with particular emphasis on local artists. Their excellent exhibitions change regularly, and painting, sculpture, printing, even embroidery all feature.

CHRISTCHURCH MANSION, IPSWICH

This red-brick Tudor mansion in Ipswich is set within 70 acres of pretty public parkland, but it's what's inside Christchurch Mansion that interests most. The house contains rooms preserved in time, a collection of pottery and glass, a contemporary art gallery and the largest collection of works by Constable and Gainsborough outside London.

MUSEUM OF EAST ANGLIAN LIFE, STOWMARKET

Containing over 32,000 items on a 75 acre site, Stowmarket’s Museum of East Anglian Life is one of the grandest museums in the area. It’s a great place to discover how the region’s people lived, worked, and socialised down the centuries.

THE IPSWICH MUSEUM, IPSWICH

Who knew that in the centre of Ipswich you could find Anglo Saxon treasure or an Ancient Egyptian tomb? How about gorillas, rhinos, and even a woolly mammoth? Well, if you head down to the Ipswich Museum on the High Street you’ll discover these and so much more. There are plenty of hands on activities for the children to get to grips with and special events are held regularly.
