THE GLAMPER'S GUIDE TO GLAMPING IN SUFFOLK

When you think of luxury, what comes to mind? A four-poster bed with goose-down pillows? A cruise across the Pacific in a super yacht?

What about a night in a tent?

Don’t worry, we don’t mean the kind of tent you’d take to spend a rainy weekend in the corner of a field – we’re talking about the kind of tents that can make hotel rooms look shabby. Yurts, huts, tipis and bell tents: these are the newest forms of luxury accommodation. Join in the Suffolk glamping revolution.

GLAMP IN STYLE AT HAPPY DAYS RETRO VACATIONS

At Happy Days Retro Vacations near Saxmundham on The Suffolk Coast you can turn back time to the 60s, and stay in your own vintage American Airstream trailer! Happy Days' five Airstream trailers were built between the 1950s and 70s, and traveled thousands of miles across mountains and golden American plains before being brought to Suffolk. They have since been restored to beautiful retro condition (think gingham, aluminium chassis, and vintage wood interiors). Happy Days also offer a petite British caravan from the 70s, and four tent pitches, making them one of the smallest, coolest and friendliest glamping sites around.

ROMANCE BENEATH THE STARS AT KENTON HALL ESTATE

Possibly the most romantic of all the glamping sites in Suffolk, Kenton Hall Estate near Stowmarket is our number one spot to get glamorous in the great outdoors. Bedecked in rich fabrics, heated by a wood-burning stove and complete with an ultra-soft double bed, The Yurt at Kenton Hall Estate is simply heavenly (it even comes with its own seating area and private shower). If you prefer something a little more rustic, then the Shepherd Hut is for you, with its veranda all set for some late night stargazing.

MAGICAL CAMPING AT BRICK KILN FARM

Glamping has never been more comfortable than in the gorgeous bell tents at Brick Kiln Farm. Supplied by Magical Camping, the bell tents feel like your own private den: you can wake up in the morning to a sun-dappled canvas and spend the day relaxing in Brick Kiln Farm’s beautiful orchard.

GLAMPING IN NATURE AT SECRET MEADOWS

Deep within the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Secret Meadows is a romantic space amid 115 acres of woodland and meadows that have remained untouched for generations. Go to sleep beneath the stars in a shepherds hut or luxury lodge tent, and wake to the morning chorus of hundreds of birds singing as the sun rises. With animals grazing in the surrounding meadows, and the option available to have a country breakfast hamper and treats from the farm pantry delivered to your tent door, a stay at Secret Meadows is a true rural escape, and one so lovely you won’t want to leave.

GREEN GLAMPING IN WOODBRIDGE

If being green is important to you, you can find no better eco-glamping experience than with Suffolk Yurt Holidays in Woodbridge. There, in a meadow full of wildflowers, you’ll find five luxurious yurts, each boasting soft mattresses dressed in Egyptian cotton, a wood-burning stove and a private seating area. You’ll also find organic fruit and vegetables growing in the garden, organically kept bees and chickens, an environmentally friendly water system and 100% renewable energy used throughout. Who said luxury couldn’t be green?
