The Tour of Britain: East Anglia, 17th September 2011
The Tour of Britain is Britain's biggest professional cycle race and the UK's largest free-to-spectate live sporting event. It takes place over eight days and has nine stages, the 7th of which is based in East Anglia, with the race kicking off at Bury St Edmunds.
It is the eighth edition of Britain's national Tour since it's revival by SweetSpot Group in 2004. Last year Suffolk was included in the Tour of Britain for the first time in its penultimate stage. Setting off from the beautiful surrounds of Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds in front of large crowds, the route of Stage Seven showcased the best of the Suffolk countryside, passing through Long Melford and Sudbury, before climbing into Essex via Ballingdon Hill.
This year stage 7 of the race which takes place on Saturday 17th September, will once again set off from Bury St Edmunds and journey through the heart of our beautiful county and into Norfolk, with the finish line at Sandringham.

- Take part in the the Tour!
The Tour of Britain stage held in Suffolk in 2010 was a huge success witnessing ‘Tour de France style crowds' as spectators turned out in force to support Britain's biggest professional cycle race.
This year you will have the chance to experience the same feelings as the professionals in The Tour of Britain by tackling the longest stage of the race that brings the two famous East Anglian counties together, starting in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and finishing 200 kilometres later at Sandringham in Norfolk.
For those not wanting to take on the challenge of the full stage distance that will take in much of the stunning countryside that the two counties have to offer, a shorter but none-the-less rewarding Challenge Ride will also be on offer, starting on the Suffolk / Norfolk border in Diss and heading north to the famous North Norfolk finish venue.
