Explore Stowmarket, Suffolk
Stowmarket is an ancient market town. Although its origins are impossible to date its name has pre-Saxon roots and evidence of a Roman settlement has been found close to the town centre. A town trail is available from the Tourist Information Centre housed at the Museum of East Anglian Life in Crowe Street.
The Museum of East Anglian life, occupying a site of 80 acres offers fascinating displays including steam traction engines, reconstructed, historic buildings and lots of friendly animals. There is also a 3km riverside and woodland walk.
Stowmarket also offers shops, cafes, restaurants, railway station, pubs, cinema, leisure centre, River Gipping walks and farmers' markets.
Just outside of Stowmarket in the village of Mendlesham, sits the award winning Chilli Company offering a unique day out for the while family. Wander around an impressive display of chilies, stroll through the Aztec garden or learn more about chilies in the Jalapeno Learning Centre.

Helmingham Hall
Grade 1 listed gardens, redesigned by Lady Tollemache (a Chelsea Gold Medallist), set in a 400 acre deer park surrounding a moated Tudor Hall. Visitors are enchanted by the stunning herbaceous borders within the walled kitchen garden, the herb, knot, rose and wild gardens.
