The Coach House offers comfortable accommodation in an interesting and stylish conversion of a Victorian coach house and stable block. Downstairs, the stripped pine floors, recessed lights and muted colours of the furnishings reflect our sense of place - a light and airy setting close to the coast. Several guests have described the house as "an oasis of calm" but with "a good breakfast too!"
Upstairs the understated colours continue. Guest accommodation has thick wool carpets, crisp fresh linen and mellow wood furniture. The bathrooms have cast iron baths, but no shower facilities, except for hair washing. All bedrooms have a television, radio and alarm clock and high quality towels and bed linen. Hairdryers, irons and Wi-Fi are available and there are tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge in the kitchenette on the central landing area.
Breakfast is served in the dining room; whether you choose a hearty full English breakfast, or a lighter Continental option, all the ingredients have been carefully sourced from local suppliers, supporting the shops in Woodbridge town centre, Woodbridge Farmers' Market and the community. Food miles are very low.
You are very welcome to wander or sit in the garden which has two main features - a sheltered brick-paved courtyard with parterre and planted pots and a more informal area of lawn with flowers, foliage shrubs and mature trees.
Living in such a beautiful part of the world as Suffolk - with its big skies, vast open heathland, tidal rivers, and moody coastline - we are constantly reminded of the power and the fragility of the natural environment and our impact upon it, and we are proactive in dealing with sustainability concerns. The Coach House has Gold Awards from The Green Tourism Business Scheme and Suffolk Carbon Charter in recognition of environmental best practice and carbon footprint reductions, and is a recent winner in the Suffolk Creating the Greenest County Awards 2012.
