Do you know Ipswich like no one else?
Could you put together and lead a walking tour for groups of visitors?
Is your specialism gargoyles on buildings, or locations where there used to be independent record shops? Perhaps it's the meaning of street names, or places you used to go when you bunked off school? It might be details you know about religious buildings, or something we could never dream of.
From Wednesday 26 to Sunday 30 October this year the internationally acclaimed SPILL Festival of Performance returns to Ipswich with a packed 5-day programme of exciting and unexpected events. As part of this we are inviting members of the public to submit ideas for alternative Ipswich walking tours. A number of winning ideas will be selected by the festival's organisers and turned in to public events. These will then become part of the SPILL Festival programme 2016.
SPILL is known worldwide as a leading festival of performance art. But Ipswich-raised Artistic Director Robert Pacitti knows the festival can offer much to people of the town and region who might think performance art is not for them. He says:
"I live in Ipswich and SPILL is made in the town. This year’s festival will explore more local opportunities, with new events that are suitable for kids and families, an increased music offer, and these walking tours – which are all made locally with care and love. Of course we understand not everyone will enjoy all of what we do with performance art, but we believe SPILL has what it takes to make a much broader offer and we look forward to making that happen for and with the people of the region.”
