Details

Haverhill & District Local History Centre - Housed in the Victorian Town Hall, features a main annual exhibition & a no of shorter displays. Also over 4,000 photographs & newspapers on microfilm. Useful study centre with its many resources.

The Centre is quite a small room, so not suitable for large groups. Small groups are welcomed but booking is advised. The amenities are those of the Arts Centre, run by the Town Council. The History Centre and the study area are in fact the same place. Other rooms can be booked for educational visits etc.

Opening details

Tuesdays no admittance after 8pm 1st Tue of Calendar Month 7pm to 9pm. Also open May Day, May BH Sat and Aug BH Sat.

By Road:
A1037 from Cambridge, turn left at first roundabout to Town Centre. Carry on following "Town Centre" until the A143 junction (double mini roundabout) Head towards Sturmer (left then right) Carry on past new cinema complex straight over two more mini roundabouts and take the next right turn into Hamlet Road. Follow this until the road turns to the left. Carry on up the hill to the first right and first right again to the car park. From Sturmer take left into Hamlet Road, then as above.

By Public Transport:
From Cambridge station it is 20 miles to Haverhill and District Local History Centre.
