ABOUT VISIT SUFFOLK
We will be keeping you up to date on the Covid 19 outbreak and how it might affect your business and what support may be available for your business.
We are updating these pages on the Visit East of England website as soon as we receive information from either the Government or from the Tourism Industry Emergency Response Group so please do keep checking back regularly.
Visitsuffolk.com is run under contract by Visit East Anglia Ltd and works alongside Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) throughout the county to support tourism development and engagement with local businesses. The overall objective is to increase visitor numbers and spend within the county by promoting the county’s offer at a regional and national level.
Visit Suffolk is not a membership organisation but does offer opportunities to tourism businesses throughout Suffolk and through local DMOs at a discounted rate. We encourage businesses to join their local DMO.
One of Visit Suffolk’s key objectives is to encourage all the county’s tourism organisations involved in promoting Suffolk to become more self-sustaining and less reliant on public funding. This meets the Government’s stated direction of encouraging businesses to become more directly responsible for tourism promotion.
Visit Suffolk within the national context
Visit Suffolk works closely with regional and national bodies to promote the county domestically and overseas. The national tourism structure is:
- Visit Britain: Britain’s national tourism agency, responsible for marketing Britain overseas in 23 markets through a range of campaigns. www.visitbritain.com.
- Visit England: The strategic leadership body representing the public and private sector stakeholders of English Tourism. Visit England works in partnership with Visit Britain, local and regional DMOs, and the private sector, creating a national tourism strategy, optimising marketing investment, and developing the visitor experience across England.
- Visit East of England: A business-led organisation to promote tourism across the region. Visit East of England is managed by tourism and industry experts and brings a unified tourism voice to the East of England. Visit East of England works closely with Greater Anglia, the regional rail franchise operator, and has established links with the major airports at Stansted and Norwich, the seaports at Harwich and other gateways in both East Anglia and neighbouring counties. Visit East of England is also supported by the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and is therefore fully aligned with the Tourism Strategy for England.
