5 top autumn events in Suffolk

Autumn in Suffolk is a time to celebrate the harvest and then enjoy all the events that surround it.

With food and drink festivals, apple days and country fairs, there's no better time to visit the County, affectionely known as the bread-basket of Britain.

Here are some ways to enjoy this glorious season.

1. Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival
28th & 29th September

The ever popular food and drink festival is being held in the beautiful setting of Snape Maltings, and is widely acknowledged as one of the best in Britain, celebrating the county’s produce, farmers, growers, food and drink.

New for this year is a Wild Suffolk area where you can learn about foraging, open-fire cooking, fishing, game and the wildlife of Suffolk.

2. Suffolk Wildlife Trust Apple Day
6th October

Learn to identify apples and have a tasting of all the different varieties to find your favourite at this very autumnal event.  There will be walks through the orchard, alongside games and storytelling and other activities for the whole family to enjoy.

3. Suffolk Wildlife Trust Apple Day and Autumn Fair
13th October

At this autumn event you will be given advice on how to identify your apples, pears and nuts by the Suffolk Traditional Orchard Group.  Stock up on a range of plants from the various stalls and watch craft demonstrations. There's free family games and crafts to make along with refreshments.

Where: Redgrave and Lopham Fen, Low Common Road, South Lopham, Suffolk IP22 2HX 

When: 13th October 10.30 am - 3.00 pm

4. The Great Framlingham Sausage Festival
13th October

Sausage makers will be taking over the town of Framlingham and sizzling their sausages for you to try. Not only do you get to taste them, there’s entertainment, free workshops and stalls to browse.  Framlingham also has its own castle along with several independent shops and plenty of places for a coffee or something to eat.

5. Autumn Country Show
19th & 20th October

This Autumn Show has something for everybody with amazing attractions such as the fabulous Jonathan Marshall horse stuntsman from Poldark and Game of Thrones, Heavy Horse Displays, Motorbike Stunt Teams and fabulous Falconry displays.

You will be abe to see 'Britains Got Talent' Dima and his dogs along with some fabulous cookery demonstrations and a Food & Drink Festival.

Don't forget to bring your pooch to show off in the Festival of Dogs Charity Fun Dog Show.
