Suffolk's Summer of Entertainment

As counties go, Suffolk is a pretty chilled out place. It's the perfect destination to head for if you need to unwind and relax for a few days.

The countryside is inviting (beautiful, in fact, with two designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and many nature reserves) and not too demanding if you want to spend a few days cycling or walking.

The Suffolk coastline is sublime, with plenty of unspoilt beaches, and pretty coastal towns.

Excellent food stops are plentiful (this is 'The Foodie County' after all) and the towns and villages are pleasantly vibrant, leaving visitors feeling energised after a visit, rather than drained.

There are plenty of visitor attractions for the curious: historic houses, art galleries and museums as well as outdoor attractions for thrill-seekers and plenty to keep children amused too.

On top of this are some fantastic events which take place throughout the year, and these add a rich dimension to the character of the county, which keeps people coming back year after year.

Festivals where you can immerse yourself in music, literature, food, walking, poetry and contemporary crafts; historic re-enactments, which make time travel possible; music, theatre and opera events in the grounds of some of our most beautiful historic houses; food markets selling Suffolk produce; book, vintage and antiques fairs; guided walks around some of our finest medieval villages; afternoon tea cruises on historic barges along our scenic rivers....the list goes on (and on!).

The best way to keep up to date with upcoming events is to bookmark the Visit Suffolk events page which is updated on a daily basis and we also highlight upcoming events on Twitter too, so do follow us there.
