1. River journeys by canoe

Head to one of Suffolk’s 7 Natural Wonders: Snape, close to the Suffolk coast. Travel the 18-mile journey to the sea from Snape Bridge, as the River Alde passes some of the most extraordinary coastal marshland sites for birds in the country. Discover creeks, spot a seal or two and spy an abundance of wildlife with Iken Canoe. Choose your companion (or go it alone) and your crucial water aid: a Canadian canoe, sit-on-top kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP). All levels of experience welcome.

2. Build a boat!

Perhaps building a boat is not on your immediate list of things to do, but this experience definitely has the WOW factor. The International Boatbuilding Training College was originally set up in 1975 and offers one day courses on boat building, maintenance and woodwork for those looking to develop existing skills or simply learn a new one. Courses offered all-year-round on the stunning Oulton Broad.

3. Develop your culinary skills

Set on the working farm at Kenton Hall, The Food Hub is a unique cookery experience set in the heart of Suffolk. Working with inspirational local chefs, using sustainable producers and seasonal products select from cookery demos, hands-on cooking and field-to-fork experiences. The setting won't disappoint either, located on the stunning Kenton Hall Estate.

4. thrills of the race

If you’re after high octane adventures, the thrill of East Anglia’s only British Championship Circuit is just the ticket. Ellough Park raceway is a purpose built 1065m outdoor floodlit kart circuit which has hosted the likes of Bernie Ecclestone and Lewis Hamilton. Test your limits and let loose in a Sodi Kart as you perfect your driving (or racing) skills.

5. Horseriding Holidays

Have you ever thought of taking your horse on holiday? Well, now you can (if you have one!). Head to Wideham Farm with your trusty steed to a stunning location in the west of Suffolk. Set in 47 acres on the edge of The Kings Forest at Thetford, the site has purpose-built equine facility and stables, as well as self-catering holiday homes. You’ll need for nothing, but if you decide to venture off-site, Bury St Edmunds is just 5 miles away, and Newmarket, the Home of Horseracing, just 12 miles. They also offer adult-only good-sized camping and caravanning for you and your home away from home.

6. Winter kayaking
