East Anglian Game & Country Fair 2017

We have got two family tickets to give away for this lovely family event (see bottom of page for details).

The 14th East Anglian Game & Country Fair will take place over the weekend of 22/23 April, in the beautiful surroundings of the Euston Hall Estate, near Thetford.

The event is hosted at this venue for the first time, by kind permission of the Duke and Duchess of Grafton:

"My family and I are delighted that Euston Estate is hosting the East Anglian Game and Country Fair for the first time, as this popular event returns for its 14th year” says Henry FitzRoy, the 12th Duke of Grafton.

“The park and grounds offer a particularly attractive setting for events of this kind and all the diverse activities on offer from clay shooting to dog shows, and archery to forestry displays, make it a great day out for the whole family.”

The event will include equestrian events, testing the speed and accuracy of riders and their horses as they negotiate obstacle courses; the 'horse-whisperer' Gary Witheford will be there, demonstrating his training and handling skills; and a master farrier will bring his forge along to show how to make horseshoes from scratch.

Other demonstrations include showing how Spaniels and Retrievers are trained as gun dogs and there will be dog-related competitions too.

The Falconry Village will be a highlight, with min-events going on all day, including talks on falconry and thrilling displays with these majestic birds.

The Forestry Village will be a-buzz with activities from chainsaw carvings to tree climbing competitions and there will also be bush craft workshops where visitors can learn some essential survival techniques for next time they are out in the wilderness.

This event is suitable for the foodie in your family as well, with cookery workshops and demonstrations taking place over the weekend. Food stores galore will ensure there are lots of opportunities for tasting and buying food and drink from local producers as well as those further afield.

And if all of that is not enough, there will also be over 350 shopping stands selling an array of products from fashion to fishing products with just about everything in between.

The East Anglian Game & Country Fair is also suitable for children, who will be invited to participate in countryside activities and meet all the different animals; pet the alpacas and ride on a donkey.

Lots of 'have a go' activities will be on offer too. Visitors will be able to try their hand at clay shooting, fly fishing, ferret racing, archery, paintballing and will be able to hold a bird of prey.

Do bring your dog along with you too and enter them into the various dog shows and agility contests. This really is an event for the whole family!
