Escape the everyday in Suffolk

Welcome to Suffolk where you can 'escape the everyday' where inspiring landscapes and adventures abound – on land and on water, through forests, rolling countryside, coast and town.

Enjoy time with friends and family discovering the legendary places and experiences that inspired the painters Gainsborough and Constable

Rise early and take a tour to see the racehorses in Newmarket on their daily excercise.  This is the home of horseracing, where former kings lived, and where a visit to the National Horseracing Museum and sporting galleries will entertain you for hours. Explore the historic town of Bury St Edmunds, taking its name from King Edmund, who was king of East Anglia in around 855.  Take in the floral delights and let the kids run in the Abbey Gardens, sip cocktails in one of the many bars and restaurants and visit one of the only surviving Regency playhouses in Britain for a cultural treat.

In Ipswich, indulge in a spa day or break, take afternoon tea in a hotel by the waterfront, take a cruise along the River Orwell and browse galleries and museums.

Along the 50 miles of Suffolk coastline, discover the seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold.  The towns are packed with independent restaurants and cafes serving the freshest of takings from the sea, beaches to both play and relax on and coastal cycle paths and walks that link to other coastal and inland towns and villages.
