Foodies relish in summer food and drink! What’s better than excellent grub and warm summer sun? Suffolk may be the foodie county and there are plenty hidden gems we’ve found in the Heart of Suffolk to add to your foodie destinations checklist.

Suffolk Food Hall

Obviously, the Suffolk Food Hall makes the list! It’s a brilliant location for foodies with so much to do. The Hall features a fresh butchery, bakery, and deli counters, as well as everything you can imagine from a fresh and local greengrocer, plus a grocery with all your store cupboard favourites.

Once you’re done shopping take a break at the Café and gelato hut for a light bite, or a sit-down meal at the Cook House all while enjoying the spectacular views across the River Orwell!

Jimmy’s Farm

Renowned Suffolk destination, just outside Ipswich, Jimmy’s Farm is a perfect foodie spot with their Barn restaurant & Coffee house. Enjoy a carefully crafted daily changing menu full of seasonal produce, rare breed meat and sustainably sourced fish dishes.

The Barn Restaurant & Coffee House is also the setting for many fabulous events including Big Beef Nights, Jazz Breakfasts, Christmas parties and so much more.

Hadleigh weekly Market

Held every Friday the Hadleigh Market is somewhere to explore a wide range of produce including award winning freshly baked goods.  Here you will find locally made chutneys, cordials, cakes and sausage roll, a fantastic range of fruit and vegetables, fresh fish and seafood, locally brewed real ales, Suffolk pork, freshly brewed coffee, homemade granola, a range of smoked meats and cheeses, a number of gorgeous craft stalls, plus a range of garden plants and cut flowers and a brilliant refill stall.

Sudbury Weekly Market

This vibrant outdoor market is still a central part of Sudbury life today.  Held every Thursday and Saturday on Market Hill in the centre of town.  A visit to Sudbury isn’t complete without soaking up the true character of the town with a mooch around the Market.

In the quintessentially Suffolk village of Lavenham, you can cool down at The Ice Cream Parlour .  Enjoy their Award Winning Ice Creams, Sorbets and Milk Shakes as well as delicious Sundaes and Smoothies.

Suffolk Distillery

Experience a Suffolk Distillery tour, gin tasting, or gin laboratory in the very heart of the Suffolk countryside. Here you can discover what goes into making their tasty gin, and you’ll find amongst other ingredients it’s the locally grown strawberries, Suffolk honey and rhubarb grown on the banks of the River Stour.

Nethergate Brewery

Nethergate Brewery are passionate about their beers and all their drinks that are created in the heart of Suffolk.  Pop in for a pint at the Taproom in Long Melford where you can purchase all their products.  There’s also a shop in Bury St Edmunds too.

Willow Tree Farm Shop and Café

Willow Tree Farm Shop is an established family run farm shop, that has been open since 1950 and continues to offer old-fashioned service with a smile.  They use home-grown and locally sourced produce where possible in the cafe and have a wide range of quality produce, traditional fare and some unexpected extras!
