There are several shopping centres in Suffolk where you can find high street and designer brands, such as the Arc shopping centre in Bury St Edmunds. Bury St Edmunds’ medieval streets are also lined with independent shops, as are the charming streets near Ipswich’s waterfront, where you’ll find everything from vintage boutiques to modern cafés.

The abundance of independent shops is one of the best reasons to go shopping in Suffolk. Woodbridge, Southwold, and Beccles boast fantastic boutique and independent shops, as well as regular vintage markets. Lavenham has some of the best independent shopping in Suffolk, especially along the charming Merchants’ Row, while Sudbury offers a range of independent shops, restaurants and cafés, and a twice-weekly market that has taken place on the same spot for almost 700 years.
