Description

Thorpeness close to Aldeburgh was built in the 1920’s as a holiday village. The golf course is one of the finest and most challenging in East Anglia, and was built by the famous James Braid. The Hotel offers breakfast and a dinner menu including more contemporary dishes using fresh local produce, plus a varied selection of lunchtime snacks. The affordable wine list is supplied by Adnams of Southwold. The area is well known by music and art lovers, in particular for the Music Festival at Snape Maltings instigated by Benjamin Britten. Other pursuits include walking, shooting, fishing and sailing. Tennis is available on our Country Club courts only a short walk from the hotel and adjacent to the beach. This part of the coast enjoys some of the driest weather in the British Isles. Access to the area has improved in recent years with motorways from London and the Midlands. London Airports 2 1/2 hours, Stansted 2 hours, Norwich 1 hour, Harwich Port 1 hour. Coastal heathland golf course – 6281 yards, par 69, S.S.S. 70. Recommended by Sunday Telegraph Golfing Guide.
