Details
This lovely 15th century cottage is steeped in character with exposed beams in every room, inglenook fireplaces, lead-light windows, bread oven and old brick floors. The cottage garden is typically English, warm, secluded and quiet.
There are 4 large bedrooms (2 double, 2 twin connected if required) with linen and towels provided, three bathrooms, sitting room with baby grand piano, dining room, fully fitted kitchen/breakfast room, laundry room, central heating, dishwasher, freezer, washing machine and dryer. Telephone, cot and highchair are available by arrangement. There is ample garden furniture, bbq and two terraces for informal summer dining. Entertainment includes stereo, TV, Freeview, DVD, iPod player/charger and Wi-Fi. There is a garage for car or bikes. Kersey is in Constable and Gainsborough country.
Visit Flatford Mill where Constable painted the Haywain, and see a superb collection of Gainsborough's work in Sudbury. Explore the Suffolk coast including Aldeburgh, Southwold and Felixstowe, see the Saxon burial site at Sutton Hoo near Woodbridge and visit Lavenham (Guildhall and antique shops), Long Melford (Kentwell Hall, Long Melford Hall and more antique shops) and Colchester (Roman remains and museum). Kersey is a walkers' paradise with several country pubs within walking distance. The Kersey Bell is 200 yards down the road, serves good food and is child friendly. There is a health and fitness centre 1/2 mile away, and 4 golf courses nearby. Old Drift House is a lovely home from which to explore all of this or just to stay put and relax in quiet and splendid comfort. www.olddrifthouse.co.uk
