Town Centre,

Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto shows off his wonderful gift for lyricism and the slow movement is so emotionally charged that you just melt into it. When you learn about the difficulty he had in getting it performed you are just grateful it survived.

Philippa is a very well known local violinist, trained at the Royal Academy of Music, who has freelanced with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra .

Brahms Serenade No. 1 could have been called a symphony due to its length and the instruments used in the work. As with all serenades it has a multiplicity of movements (six in total) each contrasting with the next. Brahms composed this piece when he was just 26, it is a lovely work which really shows off his unmatched melodic skills even at this age.
