Palace Street,

The National Horse Racing Museum offers a great day out for all the family. With so much to see and do it is well worth a visit. Visits can take from 3 hours to a full day, and sometimes even more… However, don’t worry if you can’t fit it all in in one day – upgrade your ticket to an annual pass for FREE to return as many times as you like for 12 months after purchase.

The five acre site in the heart of Newmarket comprises three attractions;

National Horseracing Museum
The National Horseracing Museum tells the story of horseracing from its earliest origins to the world-wide phenomenon it is today. This is explored through works of art, silver, bronzes and artefacts including silks worn by famous jockeys Lester Piggott and Frankie Dettori. Using the latest interactive and audio visual displays the museum also takes a different look at the sport, examining the physical attributes of the elite equine athlete and the importance of thoroughbred pedigree. Your visit will not be complete without riding a winner on our famous racehorse simulator!

Rothschild Yard
Meet former racehorses and find out how racehorses are retrained to riding horses as our friendly staff walk and talk you through their routine. Every day the ‘Behind the Scenes’ RoR tour is different, while you will always see a horse working in the Peter O’Sullevan Arena there may be different disciplines on display.

Fred Packard Galleries
Palace House occupies the last remaining part of King Charles II’s sporting palace and stables, providing an exciting attraction which is steeped in history. Paintings by George Stubbs and Sir Alfred Munnings rub shoulders with works from John Singer Sargent and John Wootton showcasing the finest British sporting art from around the UK. Significant loans have come from the Tate and Victoria & Albert Museum along with a number of private and public art collections.

The Tack Room Restaurant features the best of British produce, showcasing seasonal and local produce where possible. The bakery serves a selection of pastries, cakes, cold and hot drinks and also features an eco refill hub and picnic boxes, available to pre-order for your visit.

The NHRM gift shop is the perfect place to purchase your souvenirs and also features a second hand bookshop, selling a range of books for all ages.
