The Anglo-Saxon Ship

entrance via Black Horse Lane,

For the last six years Paul Constantine has researched the reconstruction of the 90ft ship buried at Sutton Hoo in AD625. It will be taking shape in a purpose-built Longshed on the Woodbridge waterfront adjacent to the iconic Tide Mill. The Anglo-Saxons that came to this part of the country flourished - what attracted them? This talk examines the construction techniques of Scandinavian ships from 325BC to about 1000AD and explores the importance of England’s first warship to East Anglia and our national history.

Admission is free with a retiring collection to defray expenses. Donations of at least £2.00 per head are valued to maintain the series. Tea and coffee are served from 12.30pm.
