Never The Bride + Summerland

Never The Bride + Summerland at The Hunter Club, Bury St Edmunds Friday 3rd August

6 Saint Andrew's Street South,
Bury St Edmunds,
IP33 3PH

For the first time Rock Queens, Never The Bride will be performing at The Hunter Club, Bury St Edmunds, with support from acoustic duo Summerland on Friday 3rd August 2018.

In the very heart of the notorious London rock and roll scene exists a whirlwind duo of female energy and ecstasy, please meet Never The Bride.

Their live performance is to be held in awe, purely in anticipation of the live operatic architecture they consistently unfurl upon their willing audiences. Having invaded venues ranging from The Royal Albert Hall (on multiple occasions), playing alongside Elton John at the Royal Albert Hall, touring UK & Australia with The British Symphony Rock Symphony alongside, Roger Daltrey, Paul Rogers, Wembley Arena supporting The Who, Glastonbury Festival with Dame Shirley Bassey, various with Eric Clapton, Ronnie Scott’s with Robert Plant & Gary Moore, duetted with Brian Adams at The Birmingham NEC, The Viper Room in LA and Euro-fests galore - to intimate spaces like The Green Note in Camden, Never The Bride have amazed and floored audiences and peer groups alike over their 25 years of service – these ladies are true rock and roll royalty.

Roger Daltrey broadcast “Nikki Lamborn has the best female rock voice since Janis Joplin and I know what I’m talking about, I knew Janis”.

Bob Harris from BBC Radio 2 referred to them as “one of the best live bands in Britain”; the ladies’ roll-call list is simply mind blowing – as are the stories the ladies readily share.

The legendary Dame Shirley Bassey called the girls “inspirational", and, on hearing Nikki sing their original song The Living Tree said, “I got goosebumps and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up”. Dame Shirley went on to record The Living Tree with the girls which then led to the Dame's Chart Topping Album “Get the Party Started”, which the girls also produced.

“Capturing the electric and unquestionable live energy, Never The Bride’s presence has also been noted as one of LA’s famous Viper Room’s top favourite moments of the past 21 years.” Sunset and Clark magazine.

Bristol born Nikki Lamborn carries the dynamo vocal lead, while Glaswegian, Catherine ‘Been’ Feeney asserts the ‘sonic art’ with keys and vocals. Joined by a world class band their raw, unfettered talent is undeniable and is enough to justify the impression the girls have left on audiences throughout Never The Bride’s 25 years of global domination.

Nikki also holds a successful reputation as a vocal coach; described as “the best I have ever known” by Beverley Knight and has appeared on TV as a vocal coach on BBC’s “Just The Two Of Us” and Channel 4’s “Faking It” series as well as recently taking part as a judge in BBC1s new Saturday night Prime time entertainment show “All together Now” (Aired 27th Jan 2018).

Nikki Lamborn was also approached in 2016 by Film Director Duncan Jones (David Bowies Son) Moon, Source Code, Warcraft, and asked if she would appear in his latest Film MUTE currently available on Netflix. Nikki is cast alongside Alex Skarsgard, Paul Rudd, & Justin Theroux, Sam Rockwell

Never The Bride have released seven studio albums to date, with their latest outing, due to be released Summer 2018.

Their legendary career merely represents their journey so far – and remains a testament for what dangerously is yet to come.

SUMMERLAND are a hard-gigging band that are delighting ever larger live audiences with their songs of love and loss, longing and rejection.

Sophie Armstrong, a shepherdess working in the wilds of Northumberland by day, has an extraordinary voice that soars, yet offers vulnerability and clarity too.

At her side stands Gary Shearer, a guitarist of breath taking ability whose finger picking is simply flawless.

Together they’ve crafted a set list of original, heartfelt songs. This is music that is both contemporary and timeless.

Summerland, who can perform as a duo or four-piece band, also offer their live audiences a carefully chosen selection of brilliantly re-worked classic rock songs.

Night after night they dish up delightful hooks and melodies, coupled with moments of introspective beauty. Their music has been described as country rock with a North East edge.

Sophie, originally from London, but now an honorary Northumbrian, remembers first singing at the age of five and has never really stopped.

She honed her skills singing during her time in the capital and once sang for the Prime Minister, David Cameron, at his parents’ home.

Sophie teamed up with Gary, from Berwick upon Tweed, after booking him to play guitar at a family party at her home near Wooler, Northumberland, in 2010.

She was so taken with Gary’s performance that night she decided she wanted to be the singer at his side. Gary, who had first picked up a guitar aged 12, was equally impressed by Sophie’s spine tingling vocals and wanted to work alongside her.

From their first jam session together they realised there was a special chemistry between them. Sophie and Gary have now been playing live together for six years and have released a deluxe version of their first album, called simply ‘Summerland’, which took them two years to write and record..

Nikki and Sophie met on the set of the BBC Talent Show “All Together Now” which was aired earlier this year and has been signed up for another series. They are teaming up for what is sure to be a great show at The Hunter Club, Bury St Edmunds Friday 3rd August 2018.
