Details

This course is open to all levels of photographer, although a basic understanding of your camera menus would be useful but not essential. During the course we will cover creative use of depth of field, exposure, creative use of shutter speeds, focus modes, composition, the use of colour and light before moving on to more complex techniques such as focus stacking, High Dynamic Range (HDR), spot and manual metering, photographic filters and shooting a digital panoramic. This course will suit those photographers that have a basic understanding of photography as well as the more experienced photographers because there is enough time available to start with the basic/intermediate techniques of photography and finish with more advanced subjects and techniques. Great emphasis will be placed on developing the eye and how to construct an image with impact and mood. There will also be time for one-to-one tuition for each student during the course so we can cover subjects on an individual basis. The course is a mix of classroom theory and outside location photography. Because photography is a practical subject much of the course will be spent outside putting the theory into practice. Flatford Mill is a fantastic location for photography which we will put to good use. During the course we will also visit other locations in Suffolk which offer different photographic challenges. At the end of the course a full set of notes will be emailed to you. It is really important when it comes to retaining all the knowledge you will have gained over the duration of the photography course.

Steve has been a professional photographer for the last twenty-five years. During his career he has photographed a huge variety of subjects including public relations photography, commercial photography, portraiture, weddings, landscape and nature. Steve is fully qualified with the Master Photographer's Association and the Royal Photographic Society. He has also been shortlisted in the 2011 and 2014 Outdoor photographer of the year competitions and once in the British Wildlife photographer of the year competition.
