This year’s BardFest will be different for many reasons. First, we have a new venue, second we have some of the finest live bands in the country and third, we are offering our W!ld Camping to turn the event into a bona fide FESTIVAL. We will of course never forget where we have come from and hope we can still deliver all the things you have come to love from this growing, popular, rural event.
The Real Ale Festival will grow this year with a selection of some 40 real ales from great breweries located all over the UK. Alongside we will have a large selection of artisan cider, craft ales and premium lagers, a full range of spirits, quality wines and of course the shot bar. Our ever popular Pimm’s, Prosecco and Gin Bar will again be serving until late.
This year our food tent will continue to offer our famous Jumbo Hot Dog’s and Steakburgers, as well as Chips, Spicy Chilli and something special for the Vegetarians. The Hog Roast will be served early evening both days.
The Kid’s Bar will again be banging out the Candy Floss and Popcorn, whilst will be the place you can get a cup of filter coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Indulge in sweet snacks and pick up a full range of soft drinks here.
New to BardFest this year will be our additional food court. The Walking Wok is back with fresh, zingy Malaysian dishes, we also have Mexican, Wraps, Jerk Chicken, Ice Cream, Yum Yum Tree Fudge, Churro’s, Doughnuts, Slush, Milk Shakes and Sweets.
Developing on previous years we will also be introducing our new stalls area ‘How Bazaar!’ – this will have Face Painting, Hair Braiding and many other arts & crafts stalls.
Finally, we will have lots of other amusements, aimed mainly at the younger BardFestians, including rides, zorbs, games and attractions.
The History – BardFest started in 2010 as very much a family-friendly, local village event. We had some live music on a trailer and a couple of real ales.
This year’s event will be the 9th BardFest and we like to think many people from far and wide now enjoy it. Everyone working at the event does so for free, from the people pulling the pints and serving the food, to administering first aid and clearing up on Sunday. The event has grown a little each year and in 2017 with fine weather, we welcomed nearly 4,000 visitors to BardFest.
We try to create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, where people can relax, enjoy what’s on offer and then party like no-one is watching!
When we sit down and start planning the next BardFest, we do a lot of navel-gazing and come up with the next plan. We think we will take the event to the next level this year and we hope you come along for this next part of the journey. We know we can’t please everyone all of the time but we will be trying….
We are moving – yes, after 8 successful years at the Playing Field, we are moving to the centre of the village. Church Meadow is West of Downtown Bardwell, see you there!
We will also reveal the all new W!ld Camping area. Tents, Caravans and Camper Vans are welcome but must be pre-booked on the ticketing site. As with everything regarding the event, we urge all visitors to carefully read the ‘Important Information’ area of our website at www.bardfest.com
The success of BardFest is down to many factors. We would like to thank everyone who has been part of the event over the last 8 years. To all the bands, the volunteers, the sponsors but most of all to you, the people who come back year after year, you make it worth the effort.

FRIDAY
What a better way to start your weekend? This year we will open the gates at 5pm on Friday night and people with online tickets will be able to ‘Fastrack through security’. There will be more places to pick up your cash cards and then get ready for a heavyweight line up for the Friday Night.

The Bar will close at 11:30pm and the event will finish at Midnight. Please respect our neighbours when you leave the event.

SATURDAY
So after a good nights sleep, we go again…. Saturday 7th July is party night!! Gates will open at 1pm and with headline acts we never believed we could attract to BardFest, it promises to be truly memorable. The afternoon will feature the opportunity for emerging bands to play the all new Mainstage at BardFest. Keep an eye on social media and we will make sure you get a flavour of what to expect.
Also on Saturday afternoon, BardFest becomes the festival for the family; the sun will be shining, music will be playing and the children will be entertained, including the returning Stevie Spud, who will be back again this year.
As the sun starts to set, we will turn to the bands that everyone can’t wait to see.
We can’t wait to kick things off again this year and welcome everyone down for a weekend of safe, chilled, fun.
